The Digital Media course provides an introduction to the concepts, tools, and practices involved in creating and managing digital content. The course explores how text, images, audio, video, and interactive media are produced, edited, and distributed across digital platforms. Students will learn the fundamentals of digital communication, visual design, and storytelling while gaining hands-on experience with industry-standard software and online tools.

DGM - 108 iMAG
After our journey through production, we transition into live production with an introduction to iMAG. These sessions include:
iMAG: What a character? (Lower thirds, full screens, working with fonts and keys)
iMAG: Media Playout (media replay in live production)
iMAG: Intro to ProPresenter
DGM - 109 Producing
Kicking off our introduction to “The Big 3,” these sessions explore:
The role(s) of a Producer
Preproduction
Production
Postproduction
Creating and using a rundown
Backtiming
DGM - 110 Directing
Working hand in hand with the Producer is the Director. This session covers:
How to convert a rundown to technical instruction
Working with monitor walls
How to call a show; combining all the elements into a single broadcast
Managing a broadcast crew
And the “slanguage” of broadcast and production
DGM – 111 Tech Directing
The final member of our “Big 3” is the Technical Director (Tech Director). In this session, students learn:
Basic switcher operation
How to “punch a show”

DGM - 100 Storytelling 101
Anything well-built starts with a great foundation. For media production, that foundation is great storytelling. That is why this course starts with Storytelling 101.
How to write great content
Creating characters
Developing themes and plots
Creating stakes and obstacles
Finishing with a great ending
DGM - 101 Making Pretty Pictures
Once students have developed a compelling story, the next step is bringing it to life through visually engaging imagery. In these camera sessions, students learn about:
Choosing the right format
Identifying the parts of the camera
Understanding camera controls and functions
Shots and framing
Camera platforms (steadicams, jibs and stabilizers)
DGM - 102 Say What?!
Without audio, it’s just a silent movie. That’s why it’s time for our sessions titled “Say What?!”—where sound, voice, and meaning bring the story fully to life. We learn about:
Audio – what is it?
Acoustical environments
Using sound to tell a story
Wired vs wireless
Recording sound (mics, mixers and recorders)
Mixing audio for live sound
DGM - 103 Let There Be Light
And without pictures, it’s only radio. So, in our “Let There Be Light” session, we explore the differences between:

LED lights
Lighting kits

Now that we have a great story—and the essential fundamentals to tell and capture it—let’s move on to learning the basics of digital media.
